The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
Scope of Position:
This role performs technical duties and activities within prescribed time frames in the manufacturing environment supporting a range of equipment including PCs, printers, servers, limited network/RF support, etc. This role participates in projects to improve overall process and technical efficiency within the business. Encompasses the software and hardware systems which is required for the operation, maintenance and control of computer systems, as well as data acquisition, control, and analysis systems in high-speed, real-time environments, including data transfer mechanisms for client-server systems.
Roles &
Responsibilities:
- Performs technical duties and activities within prescribed time frames.
- Participates in projects to improve overall process and technical efficiency.
- Follows standard operating procedures.
- Maintains and ensures confidentiality of information / materials.
- Takes initiative to identify and propose remedies to problems.
- Gives periodic status reports in written and verbal formats.
- Interacts with peers to ensure continuity & efficiency.
- Interacts with Service Desk and other IT teams.
- Provides rotational on call support after adjustment period.
- Focus on safety.
- Develops, tests, debugs S/W and/or H/W systems, components, tools and utilities required for the operation, maintenance and control of computer systems.
- Develops techniques for the design and implementation of complex data acquisition, control, and analysis systems in high-speed, real-time environments, including design, implementation of high-speed, robust data transfer mechanisms for client-server systems.
- Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope. Work is closely supervised. Follows specific, detailed instructions. May be assigned to small projects or to phase(s) of larger projects. Contributes to the completion of routine technical tasks.
- Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor, project leaders, and other professionals in the section or group. May or may not have frequent external customer contacts.
Education Requirements:
Associates/Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science field or equivalent experience (10 Year minimum).
Work
Experience:
- 10 Year minimum in the Information Technology field without degree
- 5 Year minimum in the Information Technology field with degree
Required Skills:
- Focus on safety for all tasks
- Effective organization, and planning skills, with ability to handle changing priorities
- Excellent communications, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Demonstrated track record of on time delivery within budget; ability to drive projects to successful conclusion using influencing tools
- Technical knowledge on computer hardware, computer software, printers and peripheral equipment
- High level knowledge of LAN/WAN equipment and topology
- High level knowledge of server management and OS support
- Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environment and motivate others

Travel:
Limited travel to other Corning locations or 3PL sites within North Carolina

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
