Information Technology Specialist (Application Software)

Being an Information Technology (IT) Specialist (Applications Software) makes you an invaluable member of the FLETC team. This position is located in the End User Computing Support (ECS) Branch, of the Information Technology Operations and Support Division (OSD), within the Chief Information Officer (CIO) Directorate and in Glynco, Georgia. Typical assignments include:
Developing solutions that improve productivity and collaboration at FLETC using available tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft DNN, Microsoft Azure, Drupal and Office 365. Maintaining a technical awareness of the component and component infrastructure, systems, regulations and standards, as well as the latest technologies available to ensure the best possible solution is implemented to carryout effective and efficient system failovers with minimum negative impacts to the line of business owners. Ability to find the best technical solution among all possible solutions to solve business problems. Translating the structure, characteristics, behavior, and other aspects of software to stakeholders. Identifying possible Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) or Government-Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) solutions and guiding the customer through the acquisition and vendor support process. Participating in the identification and development of new services. Providing ongoing monitoring of the ITSM tool to include identification, resolution, and escalation to proper individuals. Translating complex regulatory compliance requirements into secure technical implementations. Planning and overseeing tasks to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget. Planning and designating task resources, preparing budgets, monitoring progress, and keeping stakeholders informed. Managing changes to the task scope, task schedule and task costs using appropriate verification techniques. Establishing and maintaining relationships with third parties/vendors. Creating and maintaining comprehensive task documentation. Tracking task performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals. Meeting with customers to elicit and clarify requirements. Developing comprehensive task plans to be shared with customers as well as other staff members. Participating in the identification and development of new services. Providing ongoing monitoring of the ITSM tool to include identification, resolution, and escalation to proper the individuals. Performing implementation and system management of tools to provide adequate IT system incident reporting and request fulfillment. Reviewing incident tickets for content, proper routing, first call resolution, problem detection, and timely closure. Verifying all operational processes and procedures are clearly documented and maintained. Managing and communicating high severity issues through resolution, providing accurate and timely status reports to management. Participating in the design and development of new services. The work is primarily sedentary. Some work may require walking and standing in conjunction with travel and to attend meetings and conferences away from the work site. The position may frequently be involved in the design, installation, and maintenance of all types of applications and services hardware and software. The position may be exposed to high levels of noise and cold temperatures in telecommunications and data communication facilities. The position may need to occasionally lift and carry EIT weighing up to 50 pounds. Work Environment:
The majority of the work is performed in an office setting. The position must be able to make site visits to on-site and off-site locations to support software installation, maintenance and training. Working hours are within the typical workday, however installation, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting may require overtime or weekend support. The work area involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps and AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, and social). The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
