Medical Officer (Occupational Medicine/Administration)

This position is located in the Office of the Associate Director for Training Operations, FLETC, in Glynco, GA. Serving as a Medical Officer (Occupational Medicine/Administration) makes you a valuable member of the FLETC team and mission. You will serve as a medical expert responsible for Medical Quality Management execution and reporting and participate as well as contribute to the safety of FLETC law enforcement training while working collaboratively with various stakeholders. Typical work assignments include:
Launching the initial implementation, planning, directing and managing the operations of the Office of Medical Oversight, which reflects the plans, policies and scope of FLETC enterprise-wide medical services. Establishing the overall process for medical review and operations. Interfacing with the DHS Office of Workforce Health and Safety (Chief Human Capital Office) and the Chief Medical Officer (Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office). Liaising with the FLETC Health Unit, Medical Case Management function, Office of Workers' Compensation Program (OWCP). Providing medical advice and consent oversight to the Athletic Training program and staff. Providing oversight and contributing to the Physical Performance Requirements (PPRs) process. Reviewing and providing input on student healthcare screenings as well as law enforcement instructor screening processes to indicate training restrictions. Performing training risk assessment on current and proposed curriculum with the aim of risk identification as well as mitigation or elimination strategies. Performing collection and analysis of data identifying factors that contribute to injuries and illness for law enforcement students and instructional staff. Collaborating and coordinating with the various Medical Officers from the participating organizations to support the FLETC training mission from a medical services perspective. Providing medical expertise in the implementation and reporting associated with the DHS Medical Quality Management program. Providing input and oversight to the Reasonable Accommodation program, Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) program, and to provide annual assessment, prescription and quality assurance over the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Program. Directing and supervising a subordinate staff. This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19. The qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement. 1. You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/GP-14 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector or state/local government which includes providing oversight and policy level input towards development, planning, and management of programs and support for occupational medicine and administration; providing oversight of contract staff and medical professionals with an occupational medicine background; providing medical assessment and validation of injury reviews and worker's compensation claims; reviewing programs and curriculum to ensure serious injuries are not sustained; and 2. You must also possess the level(s) of education outlined in the Education section below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps and AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
